SOOO, how do I get real political outside of GD and GDP?
This is a serious question here. I keep my sanity by occasionally getting the garbage out of my HEAD and posting a dissertation of some kind.

Granted, it's usually pretty depressing shit; I don't have a lot of hope politically or historically for the long-term prosperity or even survival of the nation. So it's not going to go over very well HERE.

But I'm tired of the Galactic Ice Weasels in the GD's and their "...if I can't refute it, I will tear the poster to shreds..." attitude.

There aren't other places to do this: take my word for it. This place is pretty unique. But the GD's are giving me long term gas. Hell, even LBN is turning into GD Lite.

So what about it? Is there a way one can post some slightly more than blandly political stuff here, or do I have to keep charging the machine gun nests in the GD's?

2. What about a blog or posting this stuff in your GD Journal?
I'd read it. Dunno about the Galactic Ice Weasels.

4. Thanks, but I think I'm still looking for intelligent debate.
I know, I know; I won't find it here. Mostly.

On occasion you do get some good discussion, but it's getting rarer with time.

You think we have the "Spell Check Police" HERE. GAWD. If you haven't spell/grammar checked your post 18 ways from Sunday WELL, then your whole ARGUMENT is invalid, of COURSE. But that's just for starters.

Use a caps key more than once (caps DO mean emphasis as well as loud voice), same deal.

Really, I'm getting tired of it, and I don't want to just talk to myself. I need FEEDBACK, and not even responses.

3. I vent in my myspace journal.
Lucky for me, I'm not all that big on the idea of many people reading my rants. :P

5. I don't rant that much.
What I do is present reasoned argument, such as why it can be reasonably construed that under the current 2 party system, Hoyer and Pelosi did not do their jobs and in fact, abdicated their responsibilities as Party Leaders by not taking the "Gang of Four" Freshman Democratic Congress Members (who came out for censuring Pete Stark) behind the "Political Woodshed" for a little lesson on House Seniority and Party Loyalty.

BOY did THAT get me the COMMIEDICTATORREPRESSIONISTUNAMERICAN label in about 30 seconds.

There are people there WAITING with hands poised above the keyboard to piss on OP's there. I can't put all of GD/GDP on IGNORE but I'm getting close.

6. Or maybe just take a break...
it's a touchy situation we're in right now, as Dems... I can see both sides of the argument... so it's easier for me not to get too outragey about it.

Hope it gets easier soon.

7. Kinda keeps me SANE.
I have a nasty habit of seeing what's next on the political scene, and it scares me shitless.

I've been right too many times, and not in the "good" way, so talking about it sort of makes me feel like it has less power.

To say not to do it is like saying "stop seeing your therapist." Not a positive thing.

8. Well I see upthread there that you're looking for intelligent debate...
why not try a subforum? GD is a little too... diverse... for the ole intelligent debate, most times.

9. Love the sick society Quote.
Think I'm going to try outside again. Wish I didn't have to...But the Blood Patrol is a little too intense and not intelligent enough these days.

I don't know. Maybe.

10. Try Editorials and Other Articles
The discussion is generally quieter there, but often with more information and exchange of ideas than GD or GDP. If you can't find a thread on a certain topic, it's usually not too hard to find something on the 'net to start one off.
