Radio Lady Discusses: Movie Trailer for "I Am Legend" in 1st Simultaneous Internet Release 10/24/07
“I AM LEGEND,” STARRING WILL SMITH, TO MAKE FIRST-EVER SIMULTANEOUS TRAILER DEBUT ACROSS INTERACTIVE MEDIA SITES

MySpace to Debut New Video Slideshow Tool in Conjunction with the Trailer

Burbank, CA, October 24, 2007 – At 12:01 AM PDT, the morning of Wednesday, October 24, Warner Bros. Pictures and Village Roadshow Pictures will debut the final theatrical trailer for the forthcoming epic action thriller “I Am Legend,” marking the first-ever truly simultaneous internet launch of a trailer exclusively across all four Fox Interactive Media sites: MySpace (http://www.myspace.com), IGN (http://www.ign.com), RottenTomatoes (http://www.rottentomatoes.com) and AskMen (http://www.AskMen.com). MySpace will also launch a custom community inspired by the film (http://www.myspace.com/iamlegendmovie) and roll out a new video slideshow tool in conjunction with the trailer. The announcement was made today by Don Buckley, Senior Vice President, Theatrical Marketing and New Media, Warner Bros. Pictures, and Shari Friedman, Vice President of Entertainment Sales for Fox Interactive Media.

“We’re excited to partner with Fox Interactive Media sites to harness the power of the global internet and give internet users all over the world the opportunity to experience this trailer in an immersive, high quality format,” Buckley said.

“Fox Interactive Media and Warner Bros. Pictures are both committed to providing the ultimate video viewing experience to a vast online audience,” said Friedman. “With this partnership, FIM continues to deliver exclusive content to their millions of online users on a variety of sites.”

Robert Neville (Will Smith) is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable, and man-made. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York City and maybe the world. For three years, Neville has faithfully sent out daily radio messages, desperate to find any other survivors who might be out there. But he is not alone. Mutant victims of the plague—The Infected—lurk in the shadows…watching Neville’s every move…waiting for him to make a fatal mistake. Perhaps mankind’s last, best hope, Neville is driven by only one remaining mission: to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus using his own immune blood. But he knows he is outnumbered…and quickly running out of time.

Warner Bros. Pictures presents, in association with Village Roadshow Pictures, a Weed Road/Overbrook Entertainment Production, “I Am Legend,” starring two-time Oscar nominee Will Smith (“The Pursuit of Happyness,” “Ali”), Alice Braga and Dash Mihok. The film is directed by Francis Lawrence. The screenplay is by Mark Protosevich and Akiva Goldsman, based on the novel by Richard Matheson. Akiva Goldsman, James Lassiter, David Heyman and Neal Moritz are the producers, with Michael Tadross, Erwin Stoff, Dana Goldberg and Bruce Berman serving as executive producers, and Tracy Torme co-producing.

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes director of photography Andrew Lesnie, production designer Naomi Shohan, editor Wayne Wahrman, costume designer Michael Kaplan and composer James Newton Howard.

“I Am Legend” opens nationwide on Friday, December 14, 2007. The film will be distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

5. Smith was excellent in most of his last outings. This one looks superb and the trailer is getting
quite a few hits.

22. A simple clarification of the use of Press Releases in this forum:
This press release was received from the Seattle publicist for Warner Brothers and is herein provided for your enlightenment concerning the scheduled December 2007 release of the movie “I Am Legend.”

Press releases are an extremely common vehicle by which the originators of books, movies, plays, operas, etc. promote their products by way of newspapers, audio, visual, Internet and other media outlets.

Press releases are always available to be used verbatim; however, many authors and reviewers will modify press releases so that they do not appear to be totally the same as what may appear elsewhere. Restating a press release is not in any way considered to be plagiarism. For example, press releases generally begin with the statement of “FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE.”

I am providing this information so as to avoid any misconceptions that anyone may have who is less familiar with press releases and their usage.

Thank you for the chance to let you know what I believe is interesting in the world of entertainment.

Respectfully,

Radio Lady in Oregon

17. That's a good video! I especially liked the background design!
Even though I'm nearing 70, I still like bright colors and geometric prints! No idea why... the bedding I like is usually for kids or college students -- "Bed in a Bag" stuff!

I really liked Will Smith in "I, Robot" although I had some reservations about the film itself. "The Pursuit of Happyness" was another excellent role -- with his cute little son playing the role in that film.

His "Fresh Prince of Bel Air" re-runs are still on the air after all these years! Amazing!

Respectfully,

Radio Lady

I had forgotten about his performance, and glad you reminded me of it.

Aside to Chavez: If I don't do the laundry right now, I think I'm going to be sorry later................ I have two hours to finish up and get ready for a movie preview tonight.

Are we finally in a better place this evening?

I hope so.

Sincerely,

Radio Lady/Ellen Kimball in Oregon

23. At first I thought a Harry Belefonte re-make
The trailer makes it look like that old film with Harry Belefonte, 'The World, The Flesh and the Devil". Then it turns into 28 Days(Weeks)Later. I'll watch it when the DVD comes out*.

*I no longer go to the cinema.

25. Thanks for your comments, BikeBloke.
Many DUers don't go to the movies. I'm a media kid and usually can't wait that long! I've seen a lot of terrible movies but I guess I'll be this way forever.

There are a lot of DVD reviewers who will have their say either before or when the distribution company decides to release the film to DVD. It's becoming more commonplace to release to DVD much sooner than it used to be. Seems to be a trend in the movie industry.
