Anyone ever hear of Sweetest Day?
I learned about the term today and evidently it's a day for lovers similar to Valentines Day. I was just wondering if anyone else heard of it?

11. I haven't heard of it at all Peggy.
Then again I'm not exactly the lovey-dovey type, nor do I have reason to pay attention to those things right now.

3. Goodness, yes.
Here in the Detroit area it's unescapable. I've heard it comes from our portion of the country (sorry for those who were previously unencumbered).

My DH and I think of it as a "Hallmark holiday" and treat it thusly. In other words, we don't care. But yes, Sweetest Day is a big thing 'round these parts.

5. I was wondering about it being a Detroit thing.
The person who told me about it is from your region. Never heard of it here in the sticks though.

10. Well, please, DON'T spread it.

Seriously, I'm not sure why it's even become a conversation piece. We avoid it like the plague. (But then we do so with Valentine's Day, too.)

Maybe we're sticks in the mud, but Sweetest Day just seems redundant to me; our anniversary means a whole lot more, know what I mean?

One thing I can say about Detroit and reservations at good restaurants on Sweetest Day is: forgeddaboutit.

That's how ingrained it is here. :-)

on edit: elaboration.

13. My sister got married on Sweetest day
Got divorced on Sweetest day too.

Kinda sour, if you ask me.

October 20 is sweetest day, yes a mindnumbing collaboration between flower sellers and card sellers.

Married and divorced on the same day, albeit different years.
