4. No. Just the 'root' part.
I have to go back for the temporary crown and the permanent one.

Have to say, though, my dentist is wonderful. As soon as I indicated pain, he shot me up with additional novacaine and I honestly didn't feel a thing.

6. Here's trivia for ya. That probably wasn't novocaine.
Most dentists use lidocaine because it's more effective than novocaine. Novocain was a brand name that has become a generic term for local anesthesia administered by a dentist.

My dentist is a teaching fellow and loves to explain stuff like this. He also told me that he had a tray of related anesthetics and if the lidocaine didn't do the job he would work his way through the options.
He told me all of this after I indicated that the first dose wasn't doing the trick. One of the other things on the tray numbed the area quite nicely.

8. You could be right. He numbed me up pretty good and then
started 'drilling' :scared:, it hurt like the blazes, so he shot the nerve up with something and I didn't feel a thing.

It will take a while for the nail grooves in my palms to go away, however.

16. It's always nice
to have cute dentists/doctors...at least that gives you one thing to look forward to if you're going in for a painful procedure.

11. No gas. Just a needle filled with awesome pain reducing
drugs. Seriously, it didn't hurt at all. I was surprised because you hear all these horror stories about how painful they are.

The worst part for me was sticking the film for the x-ray in my mouth, because I have a terrible gag reflex.

44. I hear ya on the x-ray...
I have the same thing happen.

But, I have never felt any pain at the dentist. The gas makes it so I can't feel the shots. And the shots make it so I can't feel my face. And I just had a ton of work done a few weeks ago. Three hours in the chair and it never hurt.

12. Does it hurt?
I have a molar with a cracked filling that I need to get pulled. I can run my tongue across it and feel the rough edges, but it doesn't hurt. I'll get it pulled when it starts hurting. My HIV dentist is funded by the Ryan White Foundation and they just can't afford to do crowns, so it must be pulled.

sore right now from all the poking, prodding, but not that bad.

Sorry about your tooth Roon.
