1. Interesting
There's a wonderful essay on Holmes and Watson (Don Quixote and Sancho, etc.) by Orwell....who said the appeal was because each partner represents the two extremes of each person...

2. Holmes was asexual, not gay...
Dupin was probably gay.

Batman...

Was there ever any doubt?

(start the bidding at 20 million for Alfred's memoir)

4. Wayne Manor jumping like Neverland Ranch when Robin showed
If the cape wasn't already a dead give-away, the big finned car sure ended all guessing.

3. You mean Alexander Graham Bell. Remember, he said
Come Here, Watson, I want You!!! Sounds gay to me.

7. The late Jeremy Brett certainly played him that way --
Not that there's anything wrong with that.

8. Frodo and Sam; Merry and Pippin
The homoerotic aspects of LOTR are very cute. I almost cried when Frodo spurned Sam for Gollum.

9. Well, there's lots of people out there working on making Holmes gayer...
http://www.hwslash.net

Frodo slash is out there by the ton too, though personally I avoid it. Don't know about Batman, but it wouldn't surprise me.

C ya,

10. I like fanfic but I cannot imagine trying to rewrite
Tolkien. That is one franchise I would stay away from if I was into writing fanfic.

If you want slash fiction you should see some of the Kirk/Spock/McCoy slash out there. K/S the original slash fanfiction.

I saw a K/S fanzine at a convention a few years ago. There was some interesting artwork in it that's for sure. Woo....Mr Spock completely NAKED and one of Kirk and Spock in an embrace. Oh I should note that much of the K/S fanfic is not written by gay males but by females. I think that holds true for most slash fanfic.

12. Some of the slash out there
Makes me ill. It's different if the characters they are writing about are unabashedly gay or there are doubts about their sexuality, but when they start getting characters who are not gay (obviously through the canon) into homoerotic situations, it just becomes completely tasteless and sick.

You are right--most of the writers are female, but I would say some of the "literature" they are writing is dubious at best.

There is slash on nearly any public figures out there, and a lot of it is very disturbing.
