Poll question: Just had a big fight with hubby over Bush: Stupid or conniving?
I think he's dumb as a brick and controlled by Cheney and Rove. Hub thinks he has a brain of his own, and is capable of being conniving all on his own. What do you think?

3. Other--conniving and lazy.
There's a different between stupidity and willfull ignorance/lack of curiosity.

5. Pure dumb, because conniving would require some
intelluctual curiosity?

15. Are you old enough to remember Herb on WKRP?
That's who Junior reminds me of -- only without the cool plaid polyester suits. :P

26. Actually I vaguelly remember him, but not old enough to realize what he represented.
But if Bush would out that suit on at least we would all get some comic relief!

7. I think he is pretty dumb and not smart enough to

survive without handlers in the league he chose to insert himself. He is definitely conniving and I think that one of the main reasons he chose to run for president was to stick it to his Daddy and Jeb. He knew Jeb was the chosen one so he finagled a way to ruin any chance that Jeb had to be president. I really don't think he had any real desire to actually *be* president, he just didn't want his baby brother to outshine him - again.

Like my husband has said, pretty much anyone could do a better job of being president that GW Bush*.

10. I say both.
One doesn't cancel the other out... although the stupidity does make him less talented in the conniving area.

21. We have a winner!
Every book written about him points out how focused he is when his paranoia and hubris takes over (which is about 90% of the time). Like anyone with a huge ego (but low self-esteem) he surrounds himself with sycophants.

16. oh, and something else -- Bush is definitely not worth having a fight over!
He would probably be smirking if he thought he was contributing to dissent (he's such a uniter!).

"the biggest mistake people make is assuming Bush is stupid." I believe he is truly a dipshit, just born priveleged.

23. he reminds me of a girl in my Grade 8 class ...
Her grades were rock-bottom, mainly because she just never bothered to try, because she spent much of the time picking fights with the other kids, or getting in the teacher's face. But she was incredibly resourceful and cunning, when it came to bullying. She watched carefully and knew EXACTLY what to do, to humiliate people or make them angry enough to take a swing at her (whereupon she would retaliate with devastating force). She made one of my friends cry, by whispering a comment about her little brother, about whom she was very protective.

29. Bush is a sociopathic megalomaniac who thinks he's been put on earth to change history

Within that framework, he's manipulated by the people who actually understand how things work.
