A 5-year-old boy injured during a road rage crash in Reseda died at a hospital, and his mother and younger sister remained in critical condition according to police.

The boy was pronounced dead about 11 p.m. yesterday, said Kevin Maiberger of the Los Angeles Police Department. His name was not immediately released.

Maiberger said the two motorists who had been booked for attempted murder would face probable charges of second-degree murder.

Brian Barnes, 44, of Northridge, and Armando Gamboa Ayon, 19, of Pacoima, were driving a black Nissan and a red Camaro Tuesday afternoon on West Sherman Way, between Balboa Boulevard and Louise Avenue, when they got into a dispute, according to the LAPD.

Ayon, who was driving the Nissan, lost control and plowed into the rear of a parked car, knocking it into a second parked car.

A 31-year-old woman and her two children -- a 5-year-old boy and a 3-month-old girl -- who were between the two parked cars, were crushed.

LAPD Detective Bill Butos said the motorists were "cutting each other off, they were jockeying for position. They were tapping on the brakes, one of the vehicles was tapping on the brakes, trying to cause the other vehicle to ram into the vehicle. They cannot point to the other individual and say, well, that person started it.

Speeding, murder, attempted murder x 2, public endangerment, street racing, reckless driving, unsafe lane change. As many charges as are possible. I hate people like this more than I can express. What they do is equivalent to walking around shooting a gun in random directions. A nice 40 years or so should cool their tempers.

I've seen fuckers like this drive people off the road, hit people and speed away, crash themselves killing the other people in the car.

There was a road rage story in my local news last night. No one died thank goodness, but I have noticed a rise in aggressive driving in my area lately. WTF is in the air? Everyone seems more stressed and agitated than usual.

My heart goes out to the friends and family of this women and her children. I don't think I would ever recover from something like that.

...and the other was badly crushed. When I think about this crime for more than two seconds, my brain just goes fucking numb.

I lived in L.A. for 15 years. Road rage out there is a HUGE problem. As it is, frankly, any place there are roads and cars. This is one of the saddest news stories I've heard of late. I hope both drivers have many years of hell in prison to think about what they did. It's an unspeakable tragedy.

What these guys did was despicable and they should be held accountable to the extent prescribed by law, but I'm not sure any criminal deserves to be boiled in acid and fed to carnivorous leeches (for example)...
