Anybody got a suggestion for free anti virus software?
I like my Norton, but the subscription is about to run out and I'm willing to experiment.

1. Paul uses...
AVG which he downloaded from http://www.grisoft.com and which is free for personal use. He likes it. He downloaded and installed it and it found several things that even his Norton didn't catch.

7. My vote's for AVG, too.
Been using it for years and haven't been bitten yet. Just remember to update the definitions daily. It will do it automatically if you want.

Other free ones that people swear by are:

Avast!
http://www.avast.com/

Anti-vir Personal Edition
http://www.free-av.com/

Viruses and trojans are two different things. None of the free ones are as good at nailing trojans as the pay ones are. There are more problems with false positives in the free ones, too.

I still stay with the free ones, though, and some people like two run two of them-- just to be sure.
