My neighbor is an idiot.
First he uses a blower to get the leaves off the sidewalk. He blows them into his yard. Then he mows the yard. Leaves and grass go back onto the sidewalk. He blows them back into the yard. Then he vacuums the yard. I kid you not. And yes, he's a conservative.

8. I don't think it's ideology that affects lawn care habits, or vice versa
It's the 'idiot' part that determines both. The OP should be read as "My neighbor is an idiot. Being an idiot causes him to do stupid things in the yard. It also explains his conservative ideology."

(This pedantic post brought to you by Sierra Navada Pale Ale - for those who want mountain-fresh taste, and know that the Rockies stuff is horse piss.)

17. I added "yes he's a conservative"
as a preemptive answer. When I've told friends about this guy, the first thing they ask is he a republican, or a conservative. It's been my experience that right wingers are unusually anal about lawn care. This guy sprays pesticides on anything that moves. He has a service fertilize and treat his lawn about 10 times a year. When he moved in he cut down all the trees but one. Now his house gets sun all day, the air conditioner runs continually, the grass browns because of all the sun. Then he waters, a lot. He cuts at least twice a week, sometimes three whether it needs it or not. With this the several hours of noise from the blower, vacuum etc. Plus a snowblower, power-washer, edger, tiller (for the 10sf. garden). I think the only real exercise he gets is from hauling the gas can to fill all these noisy power toys.

Time to stop, I'm starting to rant.

21. They don't "affect" each other so much as they spring from the same source.
Sounds like he's using the Lawn Blower because someone
told him it was "the thing to do", not because he actually
used his brain to select tools and procedures that were
well-suited to his real needs.

Odds are, he follows the same pattern at the polls, y'know?

with power tools. A lot of people are that way.

4. Yes, death to the weed eaters!
I'm surprised no one has committed a groggy half-awake murder because of them.

Probably because we're too groggy and half-awake to MAKE it out of bed to do so.

14. nope. My neighbor on the other side has called on him before, night mowers son has
"A christian pop/rock music" group that practices from time to time in their back yard, older Jr. plays the bongo drums and has a really terrible singing voice, they were out there one night until almost mid night. My neighbor that lives behind them opens their windows and blast heavy metal, i hit them on the side with rap, he really hates Dre so thats what i play.

Remember: keeping records will aid your defense attorney when you snap and go after the neighbor with a chainsaw. ;)

For the inventors of the jet-ski, the snowmobile, and the leaf blower.

First, their ear-plugs are confiscated....

..there is a lot more to life to increasing it's speed. As for leaf blowers, get some exercise, use a rake.

22. I've seen leaf blowers being used a several different campgrounds.
I find the noise they make bad enough in town, but in a place where you go for quiet and relaxation, they are very irritating.

29. Doesn't use water directly...
what he doesn't vacuum he blows out on the street, which is illegal. Then when he washes his vehicles almost every other day, the grass and leaves then flow into the storm sewer. He's a part time cop and should know better.
