First, I've been a diehard SF Niners fan since 1984, so I have no bias towards the NE Patriots...But this is an amazing team (and Richard Seymour & Rodney Harrison haven't played yet this season)....The way I see it is, last year they went to the AFC Championship with basicaly NO WR's...Now, they have 3 quality wide recievers, one being a superstar...Plus their defense is even better with Thomas (signed from the Ravens in the offseason) & of course, they'll even be better when the 2 aforementioned starters return....

Yes, I think they can go 16-0, in any event, they will win the Super Bowl this year...

1. If they are 14-0 and have the homefield advantage clinched
will they risk injuries to finish undefeated? Probably not.

3. Brady Is Not Even In the Same Weight Class As Manning
Peyton Manning is the best QB to ever play the game of football.

8. With the way he's in every other fucking commercial on game days ...
I'm surprised he even has time to play. So when's his "You know, some days I just don't feel fresh" commercial premiering?

Give Manning the Pats D, and they'd have 5 SB's

Old but accurate.

Three rings earned in tough games v. one ring earned against a sub-par team?

Hm.

6. Yes
Manning won one SB throwing to the likes of Marvin Harrison

Brady won three SBs throwing to the likes of David Patten

Advantage: Brady

9. Ah, Tom Brady.
The Browns chose Spergeon Wynn over him in the 2000 draft.

AsTOUNding judge of talent there, Clowns.

Oh yeah, the inconsistent Browns are their next opponent. At New England.

This ought to be not interesting.

25. Brady may well turn out to be the best draft pick ever
Edited on Fri Oct-05-07 02:44 PM by northzax
has there been another player, drafted so late (199th) who has made such an impact, for so long? he could easily win his fourth superbowl at the age of 30. his fourth in eight years. given his system, and his team, would anyone be suprised if he ends up with five or six?

sure, you can make the arguement that Manning is a better, more productive QB today, and will have better stats over his career (although maybe not in SBs) but he was drafted 197 spots AHEAD of Brady, albiet in a different draft) thus, the draft pick wasn't as good, by definition.

31. It definitely speaks well for their system.
Brady is on a great team with smart owners and great players. He would have never thrived on the Browns. Their line on both sides has been terrible for as long as they got reinstituted and there's no coaching or smart management, unlike the Pats.

Peyton always hangs in there. Just ask Tampa Bay. Is New England D strong enough to hang on? In Indy?

13. I think NE has the edge over Indy
certainly from a historical standpoint they do. I think PM only once was able to lead Indianapolis to a win over NE... all other times he was what my son refers to as "picked-off Peyton" (his favorite receivers wore New England uniforms).

22. Uh-hmm... Actually, history is on the Colts side. They've beaten
New England in the last three meetings and two of those games were at Foxboro... The 2006 playoffs, beat them in Indy after being down 21-3 and then won both regular season games in '05 and '06. The last time New England beat Indy was January 2004. But that's ok, I like it better when the Colts and Peyton are under the radar.

you talk recent history.... not all of history

This year, Manning doesn't have Brady's targets... and Indy won't be able to stop the running game either.

Damn, I long for the days when the Dallas/San Francisco games meant something!!....Well, Dallas is on the road back, but SF is several players away from being competive again...

16-0 is considered a perfect season and has only been accomplished once by the '72 Dolphins. First playoff game would be the 17th game.

which is what the Dolphins did. the pats would need to go 19-0 to replicate that.

On any given day given the right circumstances. That's why I love the game. Do they have a shot? Yup, but it ain't gonna be easy.
