Cab ride chat about republicans.....Interesting
Edited on Fri Jan-30-04 02:15 AM by Lostmessage
My cab ride to work today was very interesting. The driver was a Viet Nam vet with buttons all over the interior of his cab. I was joking with him because he seemed like a friendly man and I asked him where was his democratic buttons and as I was asking him I spotted a Gore/Lieberman button and he pointed to a Clinton button and kept going on and on pointing to each and every button with every democrat down to Kennedy.

He told me that a few republicans have gotten pissed off and asked him where his republican buttons were and he pointed at one that said Impeach Nixon LOL. I loved this man at that point and I was upset that my cab ride was going to end without me discussing politics.

When he pulled into the parking lot at my work he turned his meter off and sat there and chatted for about 20 Min's.
He went off about how he fought for this country and took a bullet in the side of his leg and Bush went AWOL. He laughed so hard about the national guard duty that Bush had and how it was like being in the crossing guards for school children.

He said that he was drafted and everyone in the ghetto that he grew up with had to go to Nam to fight for a country that had held his people down for so many years. I felt so bad about what this country has done to it's own people in the past for nothing.

He said that Bush Sr. wanted to get his sons Bank Fraud charges out of the media so that he could pardon him so Bush Sr started the first Gulf War. His son fought in that war and came back sick. He said that the government has lied to the people and the media will not report the illnesses of Daddy Bush's war.

He said that a lie to the Bush family is like the truth to us. Anything that they say is a lie but the media makes it seem like it's the truth.

He also said that he has a grandson that will not be going to Bush's oil war and if the draft comes back they will move to another country.

The conversation ended when I asked him if he had ever been to DU and he said that he hasn't. He had all of our talking points down.
I wrote the website address down and he might be showing up here sometime soon but I am not sure if he goes on the computer.

People are thinking like us and there are more of us but we need to organize. Bush is hated all over the world.

3. Average people understand...
... what it's all about--never underestimate `em. If this election is a war for souls, we've got a lot of `em, already--just a need a few more of those "undecideds."

Cheers.

5. I was honored to talk to him
The buttons in his cab were amazing. He must have been collecting them since the 60's.

6. yep, we tend to think we're the only ones but we're not
I know a whole group of people who actually subscribe to the paper version of The Guardian and who go to protest marches. They never go on the Internet.

Thanks for sharing that story. The detail was great!
