Poll question: "Dawn of The Dead"
Even tho the remake is watchable... I go with the feeling of the original.

1. Both....
Two totally different films, in so many ways, imho. :)

2. I agree...
It's one case where the remake didn't diminish the original.

12. Absolutely.
I don't want to offer up any spoilers for the modern version, so just let me say...in a raised glass to the late Chris Farley...

"Remember that part where the boat landed at the island at the end of the movie? That was AWESOME."

13. That is what George Romero said when I met him
so he's cool with it.

but I much prefer the original for it's campiness and anti-consumerism message.

4. Shaun of the Dead
I've never actually seen the others. I'm a big chicken when it comes to scary movies.

5. But, "Shaun of the Dead" is so much funnier if you've seen the others.
But, good idea there Connonym.

6. the remake is surprisingly good, but the original trumps it
the new one should have been given a different name and been a sequel or something. I hate remakes.

11. I did this same poll about two and a half years ago
I think the original won by a narrow margin, as it should. The remake was good but it lacked the depth of the original. I didn't care about the characters in the remake. They were largely flat and uninteresting. Whereas in the original all the characters were alive and real, even the bikers and the bigoted SWAT guy that goes on a killing rampage in the housing project. Everyone in the original had depth and personality, even the zombies.

15. That mall Muzak at the end of the original is a major earworm.
Whenever I'm at a mall it just pops into my head. Sounds like a weird polka number.

That musak is exactly like what was played in those days.

17. it was real
Romero didn't know how to turn it off in the mall when they were filming at night so it was written into the script. Really added to the whole commentary about mass consumerism.

18. Easily the original.
It's one of my favourite movies. The remake is good up until about minute six.

19. original
the new version was one of the better remakes of recent years (though that's not saying much)

the original gets pretty campy & over the top, but i'm partial to that kinda stuff
