Victor Petrenko Charged with Driving Drunk
Geez, first Oksana, now Victor. These Russkies can't seem to hold their vodka.

SIMSBURY, Conn. -- Olympic champion figure skater Victor Petrenko was charged with drunken driving after he crashed his car into a utility pole and fence.

A police officer found Petrenko alone inside the wrecked SUV Wednesday night at about 11:30 p.m. on Rt. 315 at Simsbury's Curtiss Park.

Petrenko told the officer that he had had a glass of wine, Simsbury Police Chief Peter Ingvertsen said. Petrenko failed several field sobriety tests, which included walking in a straight line and turning and holding up one leg. He refused to take a breath test to measure his blood alcohol level, Ingvertsen said.

Petrenko, who is from Ukraine, won the 1992 Olympic gold medal in men's figure skating.

His arrest comes two months after Alexei Yagudin, the 2002 Olympic gold medalist in figure skating, was placed in an alcohol education program for an August drunken driving arrest in nearby Avon. Norris also represented Yagudin.
