Oh god, NO.

BTW:

So he doesn't want to lose her, having just knocked her up and all, so she's given artificial limbs so she can go be a spy and risk her life even more? That's the excuse to bring back another TV show that's good enough on its own?

Give me strength...

Somebody tell me this new series is a gaudy, tacky joke, rather like the 2000 remake of 'Electrawoman and Dynagirl'?

2. So what did you think of "Bionic Ever After?"
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 01:49 PM by hunter
The one where the Bionic Man and Woman get married in the end...

So the Bionic woman comes smashing through a steel door in a brick wall to rescue some hostages, and the Bionic Man says, "Don't worry, she's my fiancé."

:woohoo:

3. That tacky late-80s continuation miniseries special?
As I loved the show as a kid, there was a certain appeal to it. Just like how I dug the movie special of I Dream of Jeannie.

Mind you, I was still a teen and obsessed with that stuff. As an adult, there's far more to appreciate in the original than in the followup specials, which seem to have less in content and more of "Here we are, praise us."

5. Exactly!
The original was enough to appreciate. Sure it was quote campy but that was part of its appeal.

6. Unintentionally campy...
Campy, yes, but it took itself seriously.

One reason many show remakes these days fail is because they don't take themselves seriously (breaking the 4th wall, bad jokes, et al). Now I didn't see the Bionic Woman episode, but if it's like the promo advert I saw on youtube, the writing is utterly awful; throwaway pablum. (Of course, maybe it's only the promo that shoehorns in just enough and the show is actually okay, but when making a promo for a new show, it makes more sense to use scenes that add up to something. Not "I'm going to get you repaired because I don't want to lose you and you're pregnant" followed by a lot of rip whiz bang blow up scenes where she's running from grave danger. That's ridiculous. Plus, was her boyfriend/hubby/lover/donor rich?)

7. I watched it... spoiler alert

Lots of blood and gratuitous violence and misogyny patched over with great heaping shovel fulls of "strong woman" stereotypes and a "love" scene with some really bad chemistry and a totally creepy dialog of her sobbing "but it's not me..." and him reassuring her "Oh, yes it is" while he fondles parts of her that he built. Bleccccch... Just build a sexbot, dude, and keep it to yourself.

And then it turns out the assholes in this secret agency are "protecting" us silly sheep public from all these astonishing advances in technology... Yeah, it worked in MIB, but that was the whole premise of the joke. Here it's just thrown into the mess with a lot of other senseless stuff. All it really needs now is some lesbian cops and a randy dwarf.

Ah well, at the risk of blowing my own chances of becoming a bionic person, I would have tied all of the twits in this top secret hush hush agency to the rafters and opened up their databases to the wild internet. If we humans can't handle the technology, then go ahead, make my day. We can beat and blast ourselves back to the stone age before we have any chance of escaping the planet and making an even greater nuisance of ourselves in somebody else's backyard.

4. I doubt there'll be a new "Six Million Dollar Man"
These days, $6 million won't even buy Steve Austin a bionic asshole, let alone everything else.

10. he would be the $27,929,577.46 man
by adjusted inflation.

and he would fight the Mars Rover instead of the Venus Space Probe and Yao Ming in a bigfoot costume.

11. Considering that the new bionic woman has $50 million worth of parts in her
I would say that the new bionic man would cost at least $60 million, after all, us men are higher maintenance creatures.

9. It ain't a joke-- they're serious. Thing is, though...
they're not very good at it.

Great cast.

Everyone and everything else about it sucks.
