Because I'm dumb like that.
Edited on Mon Sep-24-07 12:03 AM by LaraMN
Yeah- it's another one of "those" stories.

So the first week I had my Interpersonal Communication Theory class, I forgot to check my schedule to see what room it was in.

I got to school early, walked into a room, and asked someone, "is this Interpersonal Comm?"
They said, "yes," so I sat down.

About five minutes before class starts, I'm looking around, and I realize it's "Interpersonal Communication," NOT "Interpersonal Communication Theory." Different class. I get up, feeling like a dumbass, and walk to the next room.

I shout from the doorway, "what class is this?"
Someone says, "Professional Communication."
I say, "damn it!" and walk to the NEXT room.

I ask the people in that room, "Is this Interpersonal Comm THEORY."
Someone says, "yes."
I say "Comm THEORY, right?"
They say, "yes," and look at me like I'm crazy.

Last week, (Week THREE of classes,) I went to school and proceeded to sit in the wrong room AGAIN. I didn't realize I was in the wrong class AGAIN, until I looked around and saw Interpersonal Comm textbooks.
The people in that class must think I'm nuts. I keep sitting in there and it's not my class.

I do just fine in my classes once I manage to sit in the right rooms.

She LAUGHED at me and made me say "out and about" repeatedly. And laughed some more. And said I was full of shit.

5. I fell asleep in the break room next to one of my historiography classes
...last week. I woke up about 1o minutes after class started, with a dry throat (which means I had been snoring...loudly...)
I get up and walk into class and the professor stops in mid-sentence and says "man, you were really sound asleep in there!"

The walk to my seat was the walk of a thousand days...

9. I once gave a presentation in a history class...
...(Revolutionary and Republican America, 1750-1815) which was taught by an older, very conservative Cornell PhD.

It went on for about 45 minutes and at the end I felt like I had done a pretty darn good job. As I'm getting ready to leave the podium the prof signals me over. I go over, expecting kudos for my performance; he signals me to lean down closer, and then says "next time you make a presentation in my classroom...wear a tie."

Same guy used to write comments on our papers, like "Interesting...but not very."

16. Same professor assigned us 9 books of fairly heavy
material for the same class, plus a Montgomery Wards Catalog size collection of primary documents. One of the books was on the journals of Lewis and Clark...a throw-away, really, meant to give us a break about half-way through the course...so, of course, nobody reads it 'cause we all have a ton of other stuff to do.

so...day for discussion of the book comes and he starts asking us questions about it and nobody is answering cause nobody has read the darn thing.

And he is sitting there getting pissed, cause his face is getting redder and redder...

Now, it turns out that Lewis and Clark and the boys ate a lot of unusual foods on their trip, lots of wild critters, etc. and massive amounts at that. One of the things described was roast beaver-tail.

So...in an effort to defuse the situation, one of the guys who actually had read the book speaks up and says "I can't believe all this stuff they were eating...can anybody imagine what it must have been like to eat a beaver?

Silence descended upon the room...

I looked across the table to my friend Melissa, who was a very worldly bartender and one of my best friends in school...she's looking at me like "don't you dare"...

So I turn to the guy and say "Yeah, I know what that's like...I've been married for 10 years"...

Professor explodes and immediately dismisses class...tells to come back next week ready to be serious...

I kid you not...

I really miss those folks. And the Professor wasn't a bad guy; in fact, he wrote me a great letter of recommendation for Grad School.

28. Especially the decorative bushes
Edited on Mon Sep-24-07 01:32 AM by krispos42
They can do any shape under the sun! Hearts, stars, arrows, etc.!

Depends on how finicky the groundskeeper is, though.

The groundskeeper for Beaver is a former Marine Corps colonel named Angus. Of course, while they call him "Colonel Angus" to his face, he's so fussy about Beaver that the staff calls him "Anal Angus" behind his back.

And if you get that last paragraph, you deserve a prize!

Oh, GOD I'm gonna burn!!!!
