Clean the ice off your freaking car, you lazy asshole!
Edited on Thu Jan-29-04 11:14 AM by felonious thunk
$750 in damages to my car, because I'm driving down the highway and a block of ice off the roof of some asshole's minivan dents my hood and breaks my head light. I could have been hurt if it hit the windshield!

So, dear lazy asshole: Next time it snows, don't be so freaking lazy to only clear off just enough snow and ice that you can see. I wish I'd gotten your license number, but it was covered with snow as well, you lazy prick. I mean, really, how hard is it to take the extra 5 minutes to clear it all off? If you can't handle reaching on to the roof of your large vehicle, then freaking buy a car instead.

Fuck.

3. Isn't This Against The Law In Some Areas?
I've been hit by the large chunks of ice that form on a car's mudflap or that build up under the wheel-wells. There's not much you can do about that though.

I'd be angry about the damages too... but I'm glad you weren't hurt.

7. I listen to WTOP all the time...
I'm surprised I missed that one. Did they say anything else more specific? Was it just snow that had to be removed?

I've seen a LOT of semi-truck and trailers lose HUGE blocks of hard and compacted snow from their roofs. It's pretty spectacular to see one of those things "explode" on the concrete... I'd hate to imagine what it would be like if one of those things actually hit a small car.

Thanks for letting me know... I'm glad to know it.

8. I'm just across the river
I'd imagine that VA doesn't have a law about that though. Although, it's irrelevant here because the plates were covered as well, and I was more concerned with not losing control than checking his plates.

For what it's worth, it was not an SUV. It was a minivan.

6. Maybe there should be a law pertaining to SUVs where an off-road
vehicle must be used, at least once a year, OFF THE ROAD.

I hate to see these massive vehicles, which were designed to climb over trees and boulders, having mud on their bodies ONLY because they passed by the dirt road where construction of the new housing development was going on.

9. I live in the south, where they close the schools for 1/2 inch of snow...
as they did on Tuesday! I was born in Ohio and lived for 3 years in Minnesota, but have never seen such crazies as those here: They will scrape a 12-inch circle on their windshield and drive the car. I had to constantly drive around giant SUV's moving 10 MPH in the passing lane on perfectly clear highways!! So glad they paid $30-75K for 4-wheel drive gas guzzlers so they could almost move on dry pavement!

10. They clear a whole 12 INCHES???
Up here in Indiana they scrape "gunslits" in the ice. And only on the driver's side.

If we started a rumour that snow and ice absorbs cellie signals, you'd see that glass sparkling.....:P

11. That brings back memories
Of driving an old Beetle around in -30 degree weather. It's "heater" didn't have a hope; I had to bring along a co-pilot to man the scraper.

4. All SUVs should be made
with defrosters on the roof, or they make them so fucking big now, why not have a slanted roof like a house?

12. It wasn't an SUV!
Man, people on this forum are so quick to turn any vehicular thread into an anti-SUV crusade!!

It was a minivan. Let's bash minivans for a while, instead.
