The souvenir my son brought back from Washington, DC
is a white hand towel with the white house emblem on it. The tag said "made in China". And yet, I wasn't surprised.

3. Almost everything in the main souvenir stores is made in China.
When my daughter and i visited two years ago, when she was 11, we vowed not to buy any souvenir not made here or at least sweatshop-free. We came home with a nightshirt. (Plus, a 4 year old Bush-Cheney inaugural t shirt we found in the back of a sale bin at the Watergate Hotel--that was for my son to creatively disfigure, lol.)Oh, we did buy presidential wife toilet paper--couldnt resist.

4. Isn't that simply because almost everything is made in China nowadays?

6. True, but towels are still made in the USA, as are t shirts and
paper products and even plastic crap. They probably cost a bit more per piece, and of course, some are union made. (Hey, maybe that is the whole point--dont support unions. Hmm, duh to me.)
