Mad TV is terrible
Does anyone like Mad TV? When I watch it, I'm embarassed. The fact that it exists downgrades humor. The fact that each week someone in an office reviews it and gives it the OK to air is a tragedy. WHO LIKES IT?

2. Not I
I've heard people rave about how wonderful it is. Guess I just never got it because I could never sit through an entire episode w/o being too annoyed and bored to continue

5. The only skit that I have laughed at is "Kenny Rogers Jack Ass"
Edited on Wed Jan-28-04 09:09 PM by lovedems
That is totally funny! They are drinking Jack and doing some pretty funny stunts with Kenny Rogers.

Other than that, it stinks. The impressions are terrible.

6. Me.
They have an almost all new cast, so
we'll see how it goes. Any comedy show
is hit & miss (even SCTV), but MadTV has had
some of the best comic actors going. Whoever
casts that show is a genius.

8. I liked it 2 years ago
I agree that the current cast is lame. Basically since Will Sasso left it got bad. I think that the reruns on Comedy Central really show how good it used to be. Couple of my favorites:

Will Sasso as drunken Kenny Rogers
Miss Swan
Hollywood premier interviews

Mad TV stinks but SNL just blows. I cannot even watch either anymore. Frankly I think they all have become completely cowardly and the war (or wars more like it) don't help. What happened to making fun of the president (effectively, i mean)?

9. Absolutely yes, with many qualifications...
It was as cutting-edge and brilliant as SNL in its heyday*, but with the departure of Nicole Sullivan, Alex Borstein, and Debra Wilson (and to a lesser extent, Will Sasso), it just ain't what it used to be.

Now Stephnie (no "A") Weir) is carrying the show, with an assist from Frank Caliendo, Paul Vogt, and whatshisface who does the superb Woody Allen impression.

I also miss the inimitable Phil LaMarr and Pat Kilbane.

The day Mo Collins and Michael McDonald leave, I'm gone too.

Uh, can you tell I'm a major fan?

* Now, now, SNL fans! You know as well as I do that SNL was always hit-or-miss -- and some nights, it was more miss than hit. Yes, I was a devoted fan from its inception; among my crowd, we would stop wild, Staurday-night teenage parties dead at 11:30pm and gather 'round the tube for the next hour and a half to watch it. When the last of the 1975 cast was gone, it lost everything for me -- and I haven't watched it since.

12. A hilarious skit they did
Debra Wilson is Catwoman....and Phil LaMarr is the guy who lives next door who's come to get his garden rake back that her gang stole....

15. Stephanie Weir is great
Yet another great Chicago sketch comedy actress that I've met. It's very handy to have a husband who is a comedy writer and works for Second City. :-)

21. I have watched it a few times over the years
SNL that is and while it never again reached the early years glory, there were funny years. Eddie Murphy was funny.

Mo Collins and Michael McDonald are who keep me watching Mad TV. I miss Miss Swan

......he look like a man.....

22. Schhaaaaaaaaaaaaa know vat?
I miss the Vancome Lady.

Oh, but speaking of Bunny (Swan, that is)... Alex Borstein did the best impression of Regis Philbin I've ever seen.

But yeah, Miss Swan...

Okay, I tell you everything...

13. The show's a roll of the dice, but Will Sasso...
...what a funny guy.

Of course, he's only as good as the material he's working with, but I'm a sucker for the Kenny Rogers and Steven Seagal stuff.

I also like that bit he does with Alex Borstein, the singing couple and their annoying "You are the love of my life" hit single.

I've never read an interview with him but I've got to suspect that he's channeling the late, great John Candy...there's more than a hint of Johnny LaRue in this guy.

C.C is really hit-or-miss with a lot of their lineups.

I like some of the sketches. I like to tape it, so later I can watch it & fast-forward through the bad sketches.

and I haven't seen it in months, but I do remember them having a decent O'reilly spoof...I also liked that one when they made fun of Jesse Jackson (when it was revealed he had an affair).

24. Mad TV lost it for me after Dixie Wentworth and "Cabana Chat"
That was my favorite skit on "Mad TV". Very early in the show's run.

Ah..."Cabana Boy"...Orlando Jones in a skimpy Speedo...

Those were some good times...

:-)

27. The reason you don't see any more the lighter side..
Dave Berg died about a year and a half ago. The greats are leaving us. First, Gaines, then Prohais, then Berg, now Woodbridge... It's sad, really.
