21. I really think it depends upon the exposure to women they have had.
I seem to pick the same man over and over again.

Each and every one of them have "mother" issues.

So I thing that a man's understanding of a woman really depends upon their models.

23. I AM a woman and I don't understand women.
I'm sorry, ladies. I'm not trying to be mean, but I don't understand women any more than men do. I DO, however, understand men, oddly enough. I have always had male friends more often than female friends. It wasn't until coming onto DU that I have ever made female friends. I am beginning to understand women a little better, but I'm still a total dork when it comes to figuring out how to make a woman laugh or smile or feel good at all.

I don't know where the self loathing comes from with so many women. I just can't seem to win with most women in the real world. That's why I love the women of DU so much: Because so many women on DU are friendly, smart, nice and CAN take a compliment every now and again. Democrat women are DEFINITELY the coolest women in this world. That might as well be carved in stone somewhere. It's definitely different here than in the real world.

saw some comedian say this a few years ago; something along the lines of " my wife always wants to know my feelings, tell me your feelings, what are you feeling...finally thought about it and said, well, I ain't tired, I ain't cold... and I ain't hungry... Yup, feel pretty good."

And it really only boils down to you only have to find one person to understand and have a relationship with.

... makes for a tough mix. Add to that women don't teach men (we're stupid, remember?) what to do, but we still get blamed for not knowing shit (crazy, isn't it?).

Women aren't all the same. Neither are men. We're individuals. The best plan who be to try to understand the person you're in a relationship with. I don't know how else to answer a question like this.

44. I think the problem is that people don't understand people...
There are as many women who don't understand me as there are men.

So many seem to expect all members of the opposite sex to be alike. Why?

I suspect many people are too frightened, and maybe just a little too lazy to really be intimate with others. Then, when there's a misunderstanding, they spout out the standard, "I'll never understand women/men!"

45. One reason that summed it up for me, by Gavin de Becker ("The Gift of Fear"):
"On a daily basis, men fear being humiliated.
Women fear being killed."

To me, the gulf in world-view is such that even good men don't "get it" when a woman jumps if a strange man offers to help with the grocery bags.

But I seem to get along better with men overall. I think most men aren't analyzing all the nuances of relationship all the time, the way that some women, including me, tend to do.

61. I don't understand most humans period
I am a people watcher and can watch them do the strangest things, male or female. Both sexes have also been seen doing the stupidest things, the funniest things, the sweetest things, and the thing things.

Men are a trip and so are women. I don't think anyone understands anybody myself. What an individual can do is get the basic gist of what someone else shows the world. I really don't think that is understanding so much as it is observing and deducing.

We all just deal with each other in our own way.

Gah.. too early.. I must not ponder the intricacies of understanding!
