I keep getting packages from UPS addressed to the previous owner of my condo
Edited on Sat Sep-15-07 09:29 PM by Droopy
I've got three of them. I called the guy twice (his phone number is on the packages) and told him I was getting the packages and arranged for him to pick them up, but he's never showed. What would you do with the packages?

1. I guess I'd ask UPS if they would take them back...
The unpleasant thing to do would be tell the guy that he has until such-and-such a date to get them...

And after that, they go in the trash...

I dunno...

Good luck!

I hope someone else has a better idea, frankly!

:hi:

"Drop kick football"!

Just jivin'.

I'd go back to UPS with the boxes and say he's moved.

As for this thread, I'm not going to copycat it.

6. DO NOT open the packages.

Opening someone else's mail is a federal offense. All sorts of of bad legal things can happen.

I would either call UPS and have them pick up the packages, or hand deliver the packages to the nearest UPS location and get a receipt for the packages (showing that UPS took the packages back).

7. If he doesn't pick 'em up, it's his own damn fault. RTS 'em.
(That's UPS slang for 'Return to Sender'. :) )

But yeah, don't open them, that's bad. And illegal. And immoral. And possibly fattening.

8. I have been getting mail addressed to one Mr. Darcy Short for years
No idea who Mr.Short is, I have lived in the same house for years and the previous owners were Mr and Mrs. John Leung, I used to return to sender, which usually resulted in the package being sent right back FedEx or UPS!

I have called every Darcy Short from Simi Valley to San Diego I could find, most of them were women or had no idea what I was talking about.

I have tried to contact the people who keep shipping me the packages only to end leaving voicemail messages that were never returned and the packages keep comming. Because I am out of town so much I have a no-signature required waiver with UPS and FedEx for small packages that they just slide in my mailbox.

Eventually my girlfriend opened a few of the packages just to make sure that some criminal was not having stuff shipped to my house, the packages all contained strange misc bits of plastic, things like keypads for cell phones, an empty remote control with no buttons of circuit board, half a computer mouse.

Now I just throw them away,
