I buried the dog for her, and we had a little service.

Several neighbors came over for the service, everyone really liked this dog.

Good journey Midnight, you were a great dog.

1. That was nice of you to help your neighbor. Doesn't have to be her last dog
There are plenty of older dogs that need homes, and an older dog would be mellow enough for an older person to care for.

2. Very nice thing for you to do
I agree - she could get an older dog, who might not otherwise find a home. I hope she is handling the loss well.

3. My mother was in her late 80's when we got her a dog.
She had always had dogs and was very lonely after my Dad died. We found a rescue group that had a small dog who had been with a 90 year old woman who had just passed away. Ginger was a Yorkie and was quiet and used to an older person. She worked out very well.

Maybe there's another dog in your friend's future. I'd hate the thought of being without a dog.

4. My neighbor has been ill so I don't know if she is up to another dog.
She had this dog for almost 15 years so they were very close.

I would love for her to have another dog but we will have see.

It is so hard to have a pet pass away.

Midnight liked everyone, there wasn't a person or animal she didn't like.

5. Maybe she could foster for a local shelter.
That way it's not long term and if something happened to her, the dog has a place to go.

6. My aunt lived to be 99.
Up to a few months before she died she was quite active and alert. She could get another dog as long as it's not a Doberman or a St Bernard.
