Nothing exciting around my backyard except hummingbirds
These are about the only things of interest lately unless you really like house finches and European house sparrows.

Anyhow, the weather has also been bad around here so in between rain showers, I took these photos of some of the ruby throated hummingbirds in my yard.

At the feeder....

Hovering at the feeder...

Perched in my willow and hackberry trees...

And if anyone forgets why they are called ruby throated hummingbirds, this guy was flashing everyone like a beacon, on, off, on, off. I caught him while he was "on."

P.S. My injury felt the best it has today since I got hurt over a week ago. Still on pain meds and in fact I took all of the shots while on pain meds. :woohoo: :)

1. When I was a little kid
I used to think the red was the food going down their throat.

6. Logical conclusion
I won't even tell you how I thought babies came out of women before I was told. Thanks for looking.

2. wwwwwoww!
They're all so beautiful, I love the first close-up one but the last one is the most interesting for the way the background leaves look against the sky, and the little bird looks very important.

(I'm glad the pain meds are working.. I do so love me some pain meds :) )

5. Thanks stuntcat.
I would love to get some in action taking nectar from a plant, but I haven't been so lucky. I have a lot of pics of the hummers taking nectar from the feeder but somehow those pics just don't look interesting to me. Thanks for looking and commenting. :)

And as of today, I am off the pain meds, but I feel pretty good.

3. Come photograph the gang in my yard.
The Rufous hummers are in town and they make the Anna's lives miserable because the Rufous believe in team attacks. The Rufies should be moving along in the next week or so. We never take pics of our visitors, these are commercial shots. Maybe you and HypnoToad could catalog our little buddies some day,

Rufie:

4. Oh man!
If I could travel right now, I would! The only ones we have around here are the ruby throated variety. I'd love to see more. :) Hey and I think Hypnotoad's were ruby throated hummers as well.

14. I love photographing woodpeckers
I need to get over to east Texas where there is more of a variety. Around my neck of the woods, it is only downy woodpeckers with the sporadic ladderback woodpecker.
