33. I've got to agree,

9x, and ME were atrocious.

NT 4, 2k, XP, and even Vista have been BSOD-free, unless a hardware failure precipitated it.

Mind you, no OS is perfect and Linux has a few advantages, but app developers know it's the app that makes the platform. Not the minute details of the OS itself. Pity, but that's life.

i run xp but i am severely lacking in ram

i deal with it until i can get some more or a new machine

i can't really complain as it was a free machine that came to me when my old one died unexpectedly

35. The "blue screen" taunted me for weeks

Until all I had was the "blue screen" -- It wanted my computer exclusively.

I had to call in the cavalry. He rode to the rescue in a rusty, late model Jeep Cherokee with his over sized Dachshund, and a lot of electronic crap in an old, beat up, attache case. He was craggy, loud, and insulting, but I knew he could lasso and beat the "blue screen". So I took all the lumps he gave me.

He declared my computer hopeless, said he had never seen anything this bad, and asked for the re-install CD's.

After copying my files he unhooked all of the many wires to my countless devices and rode off with my computer, promising he would return the next morning.

He did return and after hollering at me again, he hooked me back up. He installed some fresh virus and spyware software, a couple of essential programs, and it was done. The "blue screen" was slain.

I asked him what I owed him, he turned and said 40 bucks.

I gave him a big tip, and watched him ride off.
