My doctor's been dropped from my PPO
Edited on Thu Sep-06-07 05:32 PM by mycritters2
I don't know why, but I made an appt with my doctor, and the receptionist called back about 1/2 hour later, letting me know my PPO no longer includes my doc. She said they'd be happy to keep seeing me, but she thought I should know I'd be paying more.

Anyone know why this would happen? Now I'm debating whether to stick with her anyway, or go to a covered doctor. There are several in town.

What would you do? I find this really frustrating.

1. My guess is that the doc may have opted out, perhaps because
he got sick of doing the PPO shuffle.

I deal with a lot of doctors who treat injured workers, and some of them have decided they will no longer treat those people, because they are sick of the demands of the Dept. of Labor & Industries.

3. That's kind of good to know
because I was concerned that she had done something to caused them to drop her. I used to work as a healthcare consumer advocate, but that was before the days of many PPOs. HMOs , yes, or private practices with trditional insurance coverage, but few PPOs. So, I'm kind of ignorant of their ways.

Well, this may be just as well. I've been thinking of switching docs. This one doesn't do any of her own lab tests, ultrsounds, etc in house. And I had a bad hapbit of getting her part of my exams done, but not following up with the lab tests (blood work, etc) at the hospital.

I've been thinking of switching to a larger clinic that does all of that in-house. Then I learned that the obgyn there has signed some kind of pro-life thing that says there's never a therapeutic reason to do an abortion, which just strikes me as creepy. It was in the paper (lots of pro-life craizes here who think she's wonderful for doing this). It did say she's the only doc at this clinic who signed it. I'm hoping they let me choose my doc. I need treatment for endometriosis, and I don't want this woman getting any of my hard-earned money.

What I need is an HMO that tells me exactly which doc I can go to. I'm no good with decisions!!
:dilemma:

2. A lot of times it really is the physician who decided not to sign again with the PPO due to its
reimbursement rates. Sad, but true.
