2. I've heard they're still giving away land in Alaska.
I'm not kidding. http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/localnews/2003626683_alaska20.html?syndication=rss

Looks like all you'd need is another $100 bucks. Oh, and be willing to live in a part of Alaska that gets to be 60 below in the winter.

3. Buy that now and in about 15 years you will have prime vaction property.
I would like about a square mile where I was the ruler. I make the laws in my land. Not the government. That would be awesome, it would become a destination for many, who want to enjoy the finer things in life.

6. Name it Henniker
There is a town in New Hampshire called Henniker. They take an undue amount of pride in the fact that they are, to anyone's knowledge, the only Henniker in the world. Making things worse is the fact that Henniker is filled with a lot of those mousy gray bobs (female) and neatly trimmed gray beards (male, usually) who exude self-righteousness the way a skunk exudes stink.

I want to buy some cheap land in someplace like west Texas, Montana, or Idaho, build a dozen houses, and incorporate the place as Henniker, just to force Henniker, NH to drop its schtick!

7. 80 acres is enough to have a gazillion goats...
I've got 15 acres and its my private eden. The walk to the mailbox would be half a city block. Start smaller and this can happen. In OK, 80 acres runs between $3000 and $5000 per acre.

10. this is my ultimate fantasy!
i keep dreaming of saving up enough cash to buy a few acres of secluded land where I can hand-build a log cabin or strawbale house. Set it up with rainwater collection system and solar/wind power. Totally off the grid.....garden, hunt and fish for food.
