Britney Reportedly Earns $737,868 Per Month
http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20520293

As Britney Spears and Kevin Federline’s heated custody battle rages on, an attorney for Britney filed a motion to delay a Sept. 17 custody hearing, according to court papers obtained by “Access Hollywood.”

In the papers filed in Los Angeles Superior Court, the pop star’s monthly income was also revealed.

According to Federline’s attorney Mark Vincent Kaplan, Britney rakes in an average of $737,868 per month.

The documents, stemming from the couple’s Aug. 27 hearing, also reveal Federline is receiving $20,000 a month in spousal support. However, that payment ends on Nov. 15.

The redaction-laden documents also reveal a list of six parties who have been or will be subpoenaed by Federline’s camp in his push for custody of the couple’s two kids, Sean Preston (23 months) and Jayden James (11 months).

11. Why isn't he receiving more like $350,000 per month?
After all, marriage is a partnership of equals so he is entitled to half. His contribution is surely worth $350,000 per month.

17. You overlooked one thing...
gender. Men consistently get screwed in any alimony/child custody/child support battle. I'm still not used to calling it spousal support or spousal maintenance...it's still alimony to me.

Although each state differs on the specifics of how much/how long alimony should be paid, usually the judge looks at the earnings of each person and makes a judgment from there.

I find it hard to believe that it's a sane decision to force Britney to pay only $20,000 a month when she makes over $730,000 a month!

:grr:

21. I find it hard to believe that Federline deserves as much as $20,000 a month.
I can appreciate that some percentage of the earnings of Federline's ex-spouse would put an upper limit on what Federline should receive per month. However, I don't see where a lower limit comes from.

22. I find it hard to believe he doesn't get a lot more
than $20,000 a month. That's less than .3% of what she makes. Neither of them are responsible/mature adults. Not 3%; .3%. Over the last 6 months it (sadly) appears that he is the more responsible/stable one of the two.

I'd be thrilled to pay my ex-wife only .3% of what I make each month...which is just under $10 a month! What ex-husband would gripe about a court order of paying under $10 a month alimony???

$20,000 is a lot of money to a large majority of people, but not someone like Britney.

What I'm curious to know is how much her net worth has increased since getting married. Whatever her net worth is prior to marriage should be off-limits regarding how much to pay in alimony (in my opinion).

27. That's his alimony payment
It doesn't say what his settlement was at the time of the divorce, which, if he had a decent lawyer was seven figures, at least. His problem is that she made most of her money, and created her most valuable assets, before the marriage, which takes them off the table. If these are royalties for things created before the marriage, they are not community property.

28. Of course that's his alimony payment
My first 2 posts on the matter already said that. Also, I never mentioned what he would get in a divorce settlement; I was only referring to alimony.

Each state differs widely on how to compute alimony. In some states only an increase in earnings/assets since the date of marriage is used in the calculations. At one time (possibly still the case) California split everything right down the middle. This rule has been a huge benefit for thousands of women over the years; it would be nice if a man got equal treatment. However I have no idea if the divorce/custody is being handled in CA or not.

I do agree that Federline should've gotten a much better attorney. Any attorney who negotiates for .3% percent of monthly income as alimony doesn't have his/her client's desires in high regard. Perhaps he wasn't expecting anything at all, and was happy when the judge said $20,000 a month. After all, that is a lot of money compared to not expecting anything at all.

And who knows all sorts of details? Maybe there was an ironclad prenup involved, maybe she found him in flagrante delicato with Larry Craig? Who knows?

8. I don't think it's that she doesn't look like a model
I think she's been displaying some really crazy behavior. Who would wear that get up out in public? Who would go out wearing a skirt and no panties and then flash her girlbits getting out of a car? I feel sorry for Britney because I think she's got some emotional/mental issues that need to be addressed. It's sort of like looking at an accident, you don't want to look because it's horrible but at the same time it's oddly fascinating.
