2. I can't figure out how to vote and why,
Edited on Sun Aug-26-07 05:49 PM by Call Me Wesley
but here are the answers:

#1 Call me Wesley.
#2 To bring peace and happiness, and if this fails, at least cheap stuff imported from China. Want a Rolex? Lead paint? Barbie to kill the kids? Oh, and to seek the Holy, what do you call it, this thing, a cup, a super cup. Oh, I get it, the world cup! Go Dodgers! Hubba hubba!
#3 How do you want to know so much about swallows?
#4 42.
#5 You wish! But you can substitute with baking soda.

3. African or European Swallow?
Airspeed can be predicted using a published formula. By inverting this midpoint Strouhal ratio of 0.3 (fA/U ≈ 0.3), Graham K. Taylor et al. show that as a rule of thumb, the speed of a flying animal is roughly 3 times frequency times amplitude (U ≈ 3fA).5

U ≈ 3fA
f ≈ 15 (beats per second)
A ≈ 0.22 (meters per beat)
U ≈ 3*15*0.22 ≈ 9.9
... to estimate that the airspeed velocity of an unladen European Swallow is 10 meters per second.

5. 'Look! There's the old man from scene 24!'
"What's he doing here?"

"He is the keeper of the Bridge of Death. He asks each traveller five questions..."

"Three questions."

"...three questions. He who answers the five questions..."

"Three questions."

"...three questions may cross in safety."

"What if you get a question wrong?"

"Then you are cast into the Gorge of Eternal Peril."

"Oh, I won't go."

"Who's going to answer the questions?"

"Sir Robin!"

"Yes?"

"Brave Sir Robin, you go."

"Hey! I've got a great idea. Why doesn't Launcelot go?"

"Yes, let me go, my liege! I will take him single-handed! I shall make a feint to the northeast that s..."

"No, no, no! Hang on, hang on! Hang on! Just answer the five questions..."

"Three questions."

"...three questions as best you can, and we shall watch — and pray."
