I am such a geek- I ordered a 28" widescreen computer monitor.
I have been less than satisfied with my 21" monitor and decided to upgrade. I found a pretty good deal on http://www.pricewatch.com/ which I always use for computer components.

It's a viewSonic model which I have had great luck with in the past.

It is a 28" (27.5" viewable) wide screen monitor with a 3ms response time. I have seen others in this size that were cheaper but the response time was always over 6ms. It makes a difference for video and computer games. (I did mention my geekiness, didn't I?) The HUGE thing for me will be the ability to open TWO full sized screens on one monitor!
Oh, and I always love to get stuff by UPS. The anticipation is part of the entire experience.

1. Nice. Does it use a 6-bit ot 8-bit panel?
Either way, that would be awesome for gaming...

3. What are the Mac version's specs?
Might be a better monitor, if it came with drivers for multiple OSes... (a problem most companies have to some extent, I'll agree...)

15. Yeah.. Any monitor you buy will work with a Mac..
I have a random and cheap Hanns-G one that plugged in and magically worked. No drivers needed.

8. I'm hoping it isn't "too big".
Of course as a geek there is no such thing as "too much".

5. How much, if you don't mind me asking?
I got a 22" Viewsonic a few weeks ago. Looks just like the one you posted, but it has an ipod dog and 3 usb, a headphone and a mic jack on the front of the base.

6. It was 699.00 when I ordered it.
They bumped the price up to 749.00 the next day for new orders for some reason. That included free UPS ground.

9. Yow!

I know it's AWESOME though. I'm going to have to wait awhile for one of those. After months of watching I finally found a deal on a 22" I could live with. $239 I believe it was.

7. Are you Nearsighted?
They have eyeglasses and stuff that will correct for that sort of thing. No need to place a TV on your desk. :-)

10. Other reasons.....
I often want to look at two web pages at once, I will have the room to do it full size with this monitor. I also enjoy a good computer game, nothing beats bigger for gaming.

12. I have a 30" Dell at work. You are gonna love your big monitor.
Never again will you have to scroll side to side. Big NASA pictures can be seen without scaling. You can use Word and Excell at the same time. You can watch three DU threads at once, which is all the justification one person needs.

14. I just traded my 27 incher off - didn't much like it.
Oh, they're great, but mine was a do-all screen- HDTV, PC monitor, built in speakers, etc. The problem ended up being one of screen resolution- there it was, halfway across the room, and I couldn't quite focus my eyes on the type in Outlook. Turns out the large screen actually has a maximum screen resolution that is inadequate, and the sharpness lacks a bit (at least to my old eyes). Also, it makes it less than satisfactory when one wants to do high resolution graphics work.

I got my 20" widescreen monitor back and am much happier with it.

I hope yours does the job you expect- don't be discouraged by me. I just like to whine.
