do not look here if you're afraid of spiders, remember I warned you
but does anyone know what this is? I have one of them in the basement shower almost every week. This one was a few days DEAD when the pictures were taken but I have a live one in a plastic container in the kitchen and have fed it one of those mini-roaches :scared:
I've looked at so many spiders online the last couple days I'm just getting confused. And apparently wolf spiders can take on any spider form. Days of research tells me it could be ANYTHING x(

2. How big is it? It's hard to tell from the pix.
That might help someone identify it. I don't know much but we have wolf spiders at my office and they don't look like this. But if they can have different appearances then maybe.

4. it's body
it's body was a little longer than a penny is wide, and with it's legs it was bigger than a quarter.
When I looked online some more I saw the spiders photographed with coins but then it was too late for a redo, I'd thrown it away. I won't be able to take pictures of the one I trapped because I'm scared to open the thing it's in!
Wolf spiders seem to be real common so I hope that's what it is. I've seen pictures of poisonous spider bites lately and it's scared me, that's why I want to identify mine!

3. the rump looks like that of a tunnel spider
that has staked out the area around our front door. But I don't recall noticing on 'my' spider such prominent "antennae" as are on the one you've photographed, though (if that's what they are..)

I dunno. I don't fear most spiders, but I just have very very little knowledge about spiders.

I do know that there are some spider sites where you can submit a photo and ballpark measurements and they'll try to tell you what it is - I don't know of the sites offhand, but maybe check out some universities with spider studies and see what you can find... I'd be curious to know what it is, too.

Good luck!

I think my aunt knows a couple of groups to ask, I'm waiting for her to write me back. When I do a web search I find so many different kinds of places, and I'm feeling confused by it all the last few hours!, I will probably send it to a couple of groups though.

Have you looked at What's that Bug?! I won't go there with my spider yet but the pictures and comments there are neato http://www.whatsthatbug.com/
