I got punched in the face last night by anarchists for not wanting to basically kill yuppies.

Not randomly, but pretty late into a party thrown by a bunch of my Democratic friends.

I didn't get a chance to fight back-- I didn't see it coming and I was backed into a bunch of stuff in a corner.

They ran pretty fast out of there after people realized what was going on. That was pretty funny-- even my smaller, skinnier friends chased after them.

Whatever. I'd rather take a shot to the face than run away like scared children.

where being filled in by (gasp!) condos and apartment buildings.

I was trying to tell them some of it is to be expected, and they believed the only way to deal with the people who would move into those places would be to run them out of town.

I didn't have time to bring up the fact that the cash they would inject into the local economy would support the local coffee houses and headshops the anarchists worked and hung out at, or that the taxes they'd pay would help subsidize student-oriented housing and mass transit.

Instead, one of them punched me in the face and ran off.

Sounds to me like they're just posers who want to be 'cool' and blow shit up. People don't get that anarchy is a philosophy in which violence (especially such as what you described. I'd be a liar if I said that no one in anarchist circles hadn't dreamed of revolution) is not required, even frowned upon in many circles.
