RIP SRV
On August 27, 1990, one of the great musicians of this, or any generation was killed in a helicopter crash in Alpine Valley, WI. The late great Stevie Ray Vaughan had his life end way too early. The things that man could have accomplished is mind boggling.
I was there that last night and will never ever forget the jam that SRV, Eric Clapton, Robert Cray, Jimmie Vaughan, and the great Buddy Guy had to close out the show. "Sweet Home Chicago" and it was obvious from watching them play that they were having the time of their lives. But then it all ended because of pilot error as well as foggy conditions. SRV changed the musical landscape by helping this country wake up and pay attention to the great American art form known as "The Blues". And for that, many of us are greatful. Thank you SRV and may you Rest in Peace. I know your music and your legacy will live on forever. Hard to believe it's been 17 years already.

1. The man caused a black-out at my alma mater
The poor circuits on the old part of the UNC campus had never experienced anything like SRV.
