My Dad's been dead for 10 years, now

3. The first few years

I had that feeling after the first few years. It passed. Now if I have thoughts, they're with anger at him being such a self-centered parent, threatened by my very growing up. he didn't want me going beyond high school because I'd be more educated than him. I did what I could on my own, paying for it myself. And that cost me the one point I needed to immigrate to New Zealand or Australia.
