Whoo Hoo! Top Chef on tonight!
I love this show

It looks like the show will be about another restaurant wars.

I worry about the person who is featured heavily in the preview, and it looks like it's CJ. Yikes.

Thoughts? Predictions?

1. I'd say all bets are off.
They really have a habit of editing the promos so that you can't tell who is in the judge's gunsights.

I will say CJ is one of the chefs I am most pulling for--thus far that hasn't been a good sign.

6. Not a chance.
I made this popcorn with a light truffle-oil butter sauce, topped with Gorau Glas, blue-veined cheese.

:P

10. D'oh! How could I have been so blind?!
No foam? NO FOAM?!

God, I might as well feed this to alley rats.

12. Hung actually had a good showing last week
and I'm among those who wants this arrogant idiot off of the show.

I love what Anthony Bourdain had to say on his Top Chef blog (page 7):

Brother Hung, by contrast, had a very good day. His burger was looked upon with favor by Daniel, inspiring Hung to giggle and blush like he'd been asked to the prom. He finally found something to do with those damn tempura flakes. And it was nice to see him encounter a chef/judge he clearly respects.

Whatever you think of "bad guy" Hung, you have to admit he rose to the challenge with his much admired "tuna tartare", which was not a tuna tartare at all -- but a cleverly inspired deconstruction of a beloved bistro classic, the "Nicoise Salad". Pretty, playful, modestly proportioned, beautifully conceptualized, creative, yet perfectly familiar in its components -- which is to say, perfect for a "bistro" themed meal. Also, apparently, delicious. It was the dish of the night.

Hung, for once, used his strange and terrible powers for good and not evil. And I say, give the man credit.

You can read the rest of it at http://www.bravotv.com/blog/anthonybourdain/2007/08/free_ride_hard_landing_at_the_soft_open.php?page=1
