NYC in 1977, The Start of Punk Music

So, ESPN is running a mini-series called, The Bronx Is Burning, which is about the NY Yankees 1977 championship run and how it inter-connected with other events in the city. The NY Daily News is running companion pieces about 1977. One of the pieces is about the start of Punk music at CBGB. I thought that some of you might enjoy the piece:

1. The way I see it, it really started in 1974 with the creation of The Ramones.

And what's a guy that likes Yes, ELP, Led Zeppelin AND The Ramonesto do? :)

that the same reasons why people started rap were the same as why they got into Punk, they were disenchanted with the music establishment.

3. Punk in NYC started a few years before 1977.

When the Ramones started playing at CBGB, which was 1975, I think.
