The Perseid meteor shower has been cancelled...

due to clouds covering over half the sky around here.

Sat on the beach hoping to see a few in the clear spots, and did catch two in about a half hour. Tiny ones, though, and disappearing into the clouds.

Tomorrow, I'll try the beach again, but bring the fishing gear.

3. In northern GA here...

pretty bad light pollution...but still getting 3-7/minute...a couple of whoppers! Considering my viewing sky, I would consider it a good show.

4. Clouds can make it better

There was one year during the Perseids that I saw a good-sized meteor hit a high-level cloudbank and explode. The cloud glowed for several seconds afterwards. One of the coolest and prettiest things I've ever seen.
