Ok, just have to ask this - what do you think about the movie "It's a Wonderful Life"?
One of my favorite movies (which you can watch online for free).

I have had people tell me they were sick of it, and I am not sure why. It is still timely, was well done, not rushed, and still rings true to this day.

So what are your feelings on it?

If you want to see it:

It is here -

3. Thank you my friend - at least I am not the only one
I watched it again a few nights ago and it made me cry.

A true classic to me personally, though I am sure it is not for all.

Always gets me choked up.

As I mentioned, I watched it the other night online and smiled and cried. Hell I may watch it again tonight.

6. I've always liked it, but...

...from what I've read, the film didn't really capture the public's imagination in a big way until the copyright lapsed and TV stations starting playing it frequently during the holidays. From there its popularity soared.

I think some of us were a little put off when some company bought the rights (I forget who it was) and restricted broadcast to one particular channel.

I've seen it many times (In fact, it was the very first video I ever bought), but I'm taking a break from it. I love the cast, love the story, own two books about the movie, and even love "Buffalo Gals, Won't You Come Out Tonight." But I guess it was overexposed by the media and parodied and copied endlessly, and some of the magic wore off.

But I'll still watch it again, and no doubt be ready to see it at Christmas.

7. I love it, but...
...I don't see why it is considered a "Christmas movie." Only the last half hour or so takes place around Christmastime. The rest of the movie has nothing to do with Christmas.

8. I love it!
It's so realistic and you don't see that kind of thing so much...where the pharmacist hit him because his son got killed in the war (I think that was it) and gets drunk...it just holds nothing back, and the child abuse (verbal) at the end, just wow. Amazing movie. :hi:

11. I hate it in the same way I hate "Free Bird" and "Stairway to Heaven"
In other words, it was a great piece of work in its time, but it's played on TV entirely too much, especially during holidays.

13. It's a great movie...
But back in the day when we only had 6 channels to choose from, one of those stations insisted on programming It's a Wonderful Life relentlessly...3 times a day for several days. It didn't occur to anybody that they could do something BESIDES watching TV...

15. i have never watched it all the way through
when i was a toddler my dad learned that he could make me cry simply by singing 'i love you truely' and from that day, i was a party favor for years

he'd start singing it to make me cry just so he could show people he could do it

he was a bit disappointed when it stopped working

This was meant to show that his life made a difference, but

24. I saw it last Christmas, I think for the first time

(I may have seen it when I was a kid, but I don't remember it) and I found it kind of annoying. I love Jimmy Stewart, but I think the thing that turned me off was that it was so loud -- so much yelling. Just seemed kind of strident to me, I guess. I'd be willing to give it another chance, and to not argue that it's a Capra classic, but it didn't really do anything positive for me.

25. I love that movie
Sure it was overplayed for years, but the thing that got me back into it was introducing it to my daughters. It's fun to watch them experience it fresh each Christmas.

On a side note, there was a Married with Children episode spoofing it where Al gets his wish he was never born. Turns out Peggy is a successful homemaker, Kelly is an intelligent and frigid young woman, Bud is successful with women. Hilarious.

No matter how many times I've seen it, I enjoy it. It never fails to bring on the water works, and for me it's like an emotion purge that helps me cope through the holidays.
