It's driving me crazy, and I can't find any reference to it. But somebody mentioned
it here today.

3. A Clean Escape
It was the first episode of a mini-series of different SF stories.

http://abc.go.com/specials/mastersofscifi.html

The first episode: The series premieres with "A Clean Escape" (SATURDAY, AUGUST 4), based on Nebula Award-winning author John Kessel's short story . . . In "A Clean Escape," set not too far in a post-Apocalyptic future, psychiatrist Dr. Deanna Evans (Judy Davis) interrogates a distinguished, if befuddled, man (Sam Waterston) who appears to be suffering from a lapse in memory. Why can't he remember - and why is it so important that she uncover the secret he holds deep inside?

Excellent show.

The original short story was even better, though. :)

5. Masters of Science Fiction (Twilight Zone-style anthology show)?
Edited on Mon Aug-06-07 10:40 PM by Phredicles
The episode (whose title I didn't catch (EDIT: But, uh, see post #3)) seemed like a not-too-thinly-veiled swipe at the Dear Leader, right down to the "mission accomplished" line. But it was set in an underground bunker in a post-apocalyptic nuclear winter.

6. The original short story
was written in 1985.

Some (very little it seems) of the dialogue seems to have been changed a bit - and that does give it a "bit" more GWB feel to it, I think - but the overall message is roughly the same.
