My truck got hit last night right in front of my house.
$2900.00 in damage. The really sad part is that the kid across the street is the one who hit it. He just got his license last week and was so excited. I feel so bad for him. When he fessed up, I kept saying, please tell me you're kidding, right?

The drivers door is smashed in pretty good and the running board is chewed up.

It was dark and I don't think young, new drivers realize how dark back tinted windows are (he was driving his mom's mini van) and how you literally can hardly see anything behind you.

3. He had to fess up. My son was in the van with him.
I hope they both learned a good lesson here. My son is only 14 and shouldn't have even been in the van with him. Illinois has a law about the number of people in the car with a new driver for the first six months. I am not totally sure of the specifics since my kids are still too young to drive. The driver was doing another neighbor a favor by giving her a ride to her friend's house.

I told them that they are really lucky it was my truck that got hit and not some random persons. If the police had been involved, the driver would be in even bigger trouble than just his parents. It was also after curfew.

2. My teenager got hers a couple of weeks ago...
so far so good...knock on wood. I lecture her constantly. Next week she'll probably walk in wearing ear plugs. I try not to be scared when she gets out on the road.

Glad the kid owned up to it. Hopefully, his guilt will aid him into being more careful in the future.

4. Good luck with your daughter.
The thought of my son getting his permit next year is going to make me crazy with worry. Kids think they are so invincible.

The kid who hit me had to fess up because my son was in the van with him. I am thankful they both told the truth. My son is only 14, but so far isn't a good liar. I can always tell and he will admit whatever he did almost immediately.

5. There's something with young male drivers.
I know one who got his license a few months ago. About two days after he got the licence he totalled his dad's car.

7. Here's another one.
I know a young male who, by the time he was about 20 had about 35 or 40 moving violations. Speeding, reckless driving, not stopping for pedestrians in crosswalks, illegal turns, etc. You name it, he did it. He was going out with my niece. I am so glad she dumped him.
