However (and I know this is pretty weak advice), don't leap to the worst conclusions until you have real info from your doctor. My mom has lung-nodules, and they turned out to be nothing. I've spent weekends in agony, only to find out that my current self-diagnosed terminal illness is nothing more than a freckle.

So - listen to your doctor, watch some bad TV, and stay far far away from the overblown hype-fest that is Google-medicine...
