For those who have quit smoking in the past...
How did you refrain from being a total asshole to everyone who dared to enter your presence?? About the only person who is safe from my wrath at the moment is my son.

And somehow I've picked up a Diet Pepsi addiction. I don't even like soda, let alone Diet and up until last week, I HATED Diet Pepsi. I'm now on my second case of it. WTF?

1. Try the Quitnet. You log on when you are having a crave, ask for help and
ten people respond with wishes and little tricks. Mike & Ikes or carrots work. So do cinamom hearts. Best to stick with vegetables though.

2. I quit for my daughter one year ago.
If you'd like send me a pm. I'll add you to my yahoo account. I keep my yahoo open quite a bit on my cell so you can reach me anytime you need a boost or sometime to bitch at.

Oh, and the nutrasweet addiction? Mine got worse when I quit smoking. Just wait until a couple of weeks when you tastebuds come back then you'll get a really nasty sweet tooth.

3. Zyban worked wonders for me....
...But to be honest, the hard part for me was breaking the habits (i.e. smoking on the way to work, after dinner, etc). Once I was able to accomplish that, piece of cake.

4. That's the hardest part for me too...
The routines. Not taking my smoke breaks at work and not smoking when I'm alone in the car is when I have the most difficulty.

5. Everyone can hate me
but I quit cold turkey with no ill effects or weight gain. That was eight years ago. I even bought a bag of lollipops, thinking I would really need some kind of substitutre, but I didn't. Now I can't stand even the smell of cigarettes, and I used to smoke a pack a day.

6. I just hit people.
nah...

I spent about the first three days curled up on the couch in a ball, hiding from everyone.

The pop thing makes sense- you gotta fill the hole with something. I sucked on dum-dums for a long time. The roof of my mouth was raw.

Hang in there, sweetie! It's well worth the agony. I promise.
