The BlueIris Semi-Nightly Poem Thread, 7/27/07
"In That Order"

In the woods, May apples. Wild onions.
From the low poplared hollows the first
rattlebush hums, promising ginseng, morels,
shitake mushrooms. Chanterelles. Redbud;
the white crossed bloom of dogwood.

Things I Must Do Today: This poem. Several
errands. The groceries. A meeting, ten-fifteen,
(important). That blue sweater at the cleaners;
change the oil. Don’t forget the kids at school;
biopsy at eleven.

—Peg Davis

7. Uh, I was shooting for posting a poem once a night, but I might not always be able to do that.
Edited on Fri Jul-27-07 09:25 PM by BlueIris
I'll try, but it might not always happen. Retro isn't the only one trying to clear his head. :-)

And yes, this poem features a speaker who really does know how to keep her priorities in order.

16. Wow. The combination of natural imagery, mundane daily ritual, and
life-threatening pain is really sharp and beautiful.

Thank you for sharing.
