Time for a Friday morning 'ask me anything' thread.
And, in case you were wondering...yes, I'm bored. And I'm procrastinating.

2. Do you think the Cubs will pass the Brewers this weekend?
Cubs have 3 games against the Reds,
Brewers have 4 (in 3 days) against the Cards.

5. I dunno...
Reds just took the series against the Brewers...but the Cubs just took a series against the Cards. Reds haven't played well this year, but the Cubs always seem to have a tough time with them. But the Cards *did* smash the Cubs last night so that might help -- might've sparked something.

We'll see. In the end, it doesn't matter who's in first at the end of July -- what matters is who's in first at the beginning of October.

9. Its gonna be close
the two Reds wins were close extra-innings games. But the two Cubs wins were pretty strong. And the Brewers have one of the worst road records in the league.

As long as the Cards arent division champs, I'll be happy.

11. Cubs tend to play better on the road for some reason
although they've done pretty well through their last few home stands.

I truly doubt the Cards are going to be anything but cellar-dwellers this year. They seem to have imploded.

Okay...just this once, though. Only problem with that is that the Reds have the momentum.

And the lead.

2-1

See what happens when people come to Coors? They bring the rain with 'em. It's not quite as nasty here. Yet. Before it got dark, I was sitting here looking at some nasty lookin' clouds, though.

Now it's 4-2.

Getting rained out = no baseball. Might as well be January. :(

The Madres won, though, so losing wouldn't have been a good idea tonight.

at Wrigley, and then three games against the Mets.

Then we switch with the Booers. They've got the Mets and then the Phillies, I think.

dunno. It's Friday and that's always a good thing. :)

I've been able to sleep 5 hours at a time. Tuesday night was good, Wednesday I slept 3 1/2 hours and last night was 5. Sigh. I know I worry too much but I don't know how to stop.

One of the calves got out the barn Wednesday night. Bandit about had a heart attack - stomping, snorting, whinneying and galloping around the pasture. If that calf could get out, *he* should have been able to get out too. He carried on for 30 minutes. This horse is just too much fun. ;)

28. You're in luck:
INGREDIENTS
1 egg
1 cup sugar
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3/4 pound fresh rhubarb, cut into 1/2 inch pieces
1 pint fresh strawberries, halved
1 (9 inch) unbaked pie shell
TOPPING:
3/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup quick-cooking or rolled oats
1/2 cup cold butter
DIRECTIONS
In a large mixing bowl, beat egg. Add the sugar, flour and vanilla; mix well. Gently fold in rhubarb and strawberries. Pour into pastry shell.
For topping, combine flour, brown sugar and oats in a small bowl; cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over fruit. Bake at 400 degrees F for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees F bake for 35 minutes or until golden brown and bubbly. Cool on a wire rack.

Okay...this is the recipe as given. I always....always up the rhubarb and the strawberries, because they cook down and I like a pie that's higher than the edge of the crust. And I cut the rhubarb into bigger chunks. Closer to 1 or 1 1/2 inches. And instead of the flour, I use cornstarch as a thickener because I think that it works better, plus it cooks to a clearer juice.

I'll find my other recipe tomorrow.

53. In my scenario, you're just there to experience it.
You could theoretically change things, but I think that deserves its own question.

So you're just going back to see what it's like, and you're just there for a day. You know after that day, you'll return to the present.

40. S'okay....
buttermilk's the best, but you can always put a tablespoon of lemon juice (or vinegar) into a measuring cup and then fill it with milk and let it stand for five minutes or so.

Or you can beat together some milk and a couple of eggs.

Either one works almost as well.

I'm an open book. Might have a few dog-eared pages, but...

Didn't get as much cleaning done as I would've liked. I did get a sleeve finished, though. Just one more to go and then I get to sew the sweater together.

And start another one.

Tell ya what...I'll let you borrow a kid or three. Tell them to clean. It's good for 'em; after all, there's no better teacher than experience, right?

:P

And my 'big plans' for the weekend include a pizza, a Cubs game or two, and a set of knitting needles.

Jealous?

39. Jealous?
How could I not be!

Pizza, cubs and knitting needles - that's a whole different kind of kinky than I've ever experienced. :P

If the kids are young goats, that would probably work out for me. A lot of what I need to "clean up" is really stuff I should get rid of...

So, in knitting, one knits the various pieces, then sews them together? I did not know that. I would've thought it was knit the pieces, then knit them together. GoG was knitting earlier this week. She had posted about problems at the MVA (DMV) and she spent a lot of time knitting. It sounded to me like she had time to create a cover to put over a house. :D

Where do you stand on the Barry Bonds home run controversy? Asterisk or no asterisk?

sometimes you knit them together...some sweaters are knit in a single piece. Depends. And Bonds, I think will have an asterisk. And he should.
