Do you eat ALL of cucumbers?
If you eat cucumbers, I mean.

Say you're gonna have plain cucumber, with some vinegar/pepper/salt.
Do you eat the whole thing?
or do you cut out the middle where the seeds are?
or do you want it peeled?

It's very important.

(picture not meant to sway the vote)

1. I eat the whole thing.
There's no part of a cucumber that I don't like. Well, except, maybe, for the vine.

15. Same here.
The cucumbers from the garden are very different than those waxy ones from the store.

6. Depends on what I'm doing with it, and how much I trust the supplier
and how much *#$&(&% wax they've put on the SOB.

Some applications take the whole thing, some require deseeding (like making cucumber boats to stuff with crab, for instance), some require the peel be taken off (cucumber pinwheels, for example), and so forth.

7. and like in sushi
in sushi how they slice the edge real thin so it makes the pretty green and white :9

I took the first cucumber I grew to a relative's last week, they acted like 'wow thanks, you brought us something you grew!' then they cut it and threw half of it away before we all had it  Of course I didn't say anything being the pushover I always am.. now I have to try to forget her throwing my home-grown stuff away.

Well this is really not worth dwelling on hehe I'll let it go now.

10. If it is a sweeter one, the whole thing
I've had some that are bitter towards the center, so I seed it. If the peel is really thick, I peel it.

So, all of the above. Doesn't really answer your question, but hey, I'm a foodie. What else would you expect?

11. Cucumber conversation
It really could go a long way, I think!
Earlier my friend was telling me (yes, I've made a mini-issue out of this lol) that they grow some now that don't have any seeds in them, but usually I like the soft part with the seeds so those aren't for me.

12. Did you know that the bitterness is usually concentrated in the layer just below the skin
and more at the stem end of the cuke? It's rare that a cuke will be bitter all the way to the center but it does happen. The bitterness is a naturally occurring substance called cucurbitacin and it is common in wild cukes but cultivated varieties tend to have it only in the leaves and stems. If it's peeled to the remove all of the green layers, then the knife and cuke are rinsed before slicing or cutting it up, there is less chance that it will taste bitter.

13. Mostly, depends on how fancy I need the dish to be
If I'm just fixing a weeknight meal for myself, I eat the whole thing. seeds and all, but peeled.

If I want a fancier dish, I peel it and seed it.

If I us the "burpless" English kind, then seed and peel are fine to leave on.
