Scuba Diver Killed When Lightning Strikes His Oxygen Tank
<snip>

DEERFIELD BEACH, FL (AP) -- Authorities say a diver was killed after lightning struck his oxygen tank in Deerfield Beach.

Fire rescue officials say the victim had been diving with three others off a boat yesterday. When he surfaced, lighting struck his tank. He was about 30 feet from the boat.

The man was rushed to the beach where a rescue crew was waiting. He was given CPR and taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The man's name has not been released.

3. Oxygen tank?
Wonder if that was a nitrox tank...divers don't generally breathe with pure oxygen....
But then I don't give much credence to the press when it comes to technical details of any activity....

4. Might have been a trimix (oxygen, nitrogen, helium),
but you'd have to ask questions and, you know, all that "reporter" jazz.

Better than the "journalists" around my area, who just today printed a story about hauling trailers, and the importance of checking the "breaks" on both the towing vehicle and trailer. And, yes, brakes is spelled "breaks" throughout the entire article.
