Batman fans: Are the stories better off without Robin?
It just hit me what a precarious place Robin has in the mythos. I mean, Batman's rogues gallery is comprised of psychotics, so why bring an adolescent into the fray? The pointy-eared bastard should be brought up on child endangerment charges (imagine Jodie Foster being partnered with Dakota Fanning in Silence of the Lambs.)

Blasphemous as it may sound, Batman's inner circle is fine enough with Alfred and Jim Gordon...he doesn't need some stinkin' kid.

1. Holy blasphemy Batman!
No Robin? Are you kidding me?

Actually I agree with you. The whole point of Batman is that he's basically just as crazy as all the psychotics out there, he just works for the good guys. Bringing a teen sidekick into the fray sort of damages the mythos behind that.

2. He never DID need Robin....he just kind of stepped in....
he was fine without him, and I have never cared for Robin, anyway. I agree

Now, let's have more of the Scarecrow in the next installment, shall we? :applause:

3. I totally agree. Batman is much more interesting as a loner.

4. Is that a "Long Halloween" capture I see?
Best. Batman. Story. Ever.

And no Robin.

6. Robin was just a stubborn holdover from the 1940's, when EVERY superhero
had a kid sidekick. Captain America lost Bucky sometime in the 50's, and the others disappeared, but Robin still holds on...

7. I like Robin because of the homoerotic business.
Thanks, DerekG!

8. Yeah, but wouldn't that constitute pedophilia?
The Dick Grayson of old and the current Tim Drake was/is in early adolescence. Let's not go that route; Bruce Wayne's a surrogate father, nothing more.

Mind you, I wouldn't care if there were a gay incarnation of Batman--the character is asexual as is (hey, he's got more important things to think about.)

10. It must be said that Robin in the 1986 The Dark Knight Returns was pretty cool
The others? Not so much.

12. Except in the case of Burt Ward
who gave new meaning to the term 'eye-candy' for the way he filled out his tights.

They had to wrap his package twice just to keep the Catholic Church from kicking up an obscenity fuss.

16. Hooray for Holy Wood!
...That screwy, ballyhooey Holy Wood
Where any office boy or young mechanic
Can be a panic, with just a goodlooking pan...
