Cthulhu movie? Maybe so....
A lot of speculation about the 1-18-08 trailer - all the info here (and trailer)

http://www.firstshowing.net/2007/07/09/jj-abrams-cloverfield-1-18-08-trailer-officially-hits/

If, and a very BIG IF, the Ethanhaaswasright website is related to this trailer then there's very little doubt that it's Cthulhu. Too many hints along those lines are at that web site. No one has proved that it's all related however. It's all hearsay.

If it's not related, however, then we are left open-ended with a very original monster movie.

I hope for either one. It would be cool.

2. I THINK I read J.J. Abrams say somewhere that it isn't a Cthulu movie.

But I can't find the source now, so I might just be crazy.

He also said that the Ethan Haas site isn't related to the film.

3. Okay, I can't find where Abrams said it, if he even did, but...
Ain't It Cool is implying that it's not:

http://www.aintitcool.com/?q=node/33332

Case in point: the way people started to get really attached to their pet theories about what this film is. “It’s VOLTRON!” “No, it’s a LOST tie-in!” “It’s not a movie at all! It’s just a LOST season four promo!” “No, it’s GODZILLA!” “No, it’s C’thulu!”

And when it turns out to be none of those things, fans are going to hold it against the movie, as if they were promised something.

5. I like the premise, if that's true...
A giant monster movie, seen entirely through a camcorder? Could be cool, in a Blair Witch sorta way.

6. AWESOME trailer!
That could have been straight out of one of my nightmares. Cthulhu, Godzilla, or Dagon, it should be one hell of a movie!
