Heeeeeeeeeeehee! Bonny Doon winery has commissioned the illustrative talents of one Ralph Steadman:

1. I thought they had been using him for a while
I usually associate Bonny Doon with GREAT dessert wines...I love a good dessert wine now and then when I want a headache from mixing the next day :D

4. I think they carry them at Wild Oats

and I saw the labels a while back and remarked to myself about them.

On edit: I believe it was Louis Jadot that started the trend with their Picasso labels back in the 70's

3. Whole Foods sells Fat Bastard Wine

I thought they named it after my ex and they swear that they didn't. The label is too dull for this bottle.

5. Is that Red Wine?
It kind of looks like he has been stabbed and blood is dripping out. I like that label.

10. I live just a few miles
from Bonny Doon - great winery. I'm in their club where they send me four bottles of whatever the hell they feel like every month or so. It's a lot of fun.

11. Kewl.
Marketing Dept's figured out that a lot of people buy wine by the label. I was once asked to pick up the "wine with the butterfly on it." It wasn't bad.

I always liked Pindar's Picasso sketch:

A lot of people started buying Pindar just because of that label. Their wine is pretty good, to, and that didn't hurt.

Then they started getting cute:

But, my favorite cheap red "bring-along" wine, just for the label, is:

Too bad I couldn't find a better picture of the label.

13. Funny...I KNEW it was going to be Bonny Doon...
...even though I've never seen this label.

A nice little winery with a great attitude...

...and some fantastic Dry Reislings (they also have a nice see-through label, although not by Steadman).
