Wiggles dug a hole and slept in it (my dog, pics included)
Last night while I was out on the porch Wiggles dug up the dirt/sand and went to bed. He is half mini daschund and half Jack Russell. We named him wiggles because when he wags his tail his whole lower half moves with it :)

3. Heehee...That's so cute! :)
:hi: He looks like he's very satisfied with his nest. :D

My dog Casey loves to dig under our hydrangea bush (which is not a problem) and lies down in her diggy hole when it gets really hot. She can come into the house any time she pleases, but I guess it's instinctual for her to want to stay cool in the dirt. :)

8. He gets this look when my daughter grabs him
like 'oh no, here we go again....' and he just goes along with whatever she does. She even pries his mouth open at times to look at his teeth.

He is still wearing the shirt too :)

10. exactly! that's why they do it. Dachsands are diggers any way
they were bred to kill badgers and dig them out of their burrows. that's why they are so short with big old shovel feet

:hi:

15. My dog loves to dig too
but the problem is that where we live that digging increases her risk of getting Valley Fever. Canine Valley Fever is a horrible disease that can result in amputations or death in severe cases.

17. We have a lot of it
here in the Phoenix area. It's actually caused by a fungus, Coccidioides immitis.

How Do Dogs Contract Valley Fever?
Dogs are very susceptible to Valley Fever and will most likely contract it by digging and sniffing around in the soil. Many dogs become infected with Valley Fever but will never show symptoms. Some dogs may get very sick from the fungus but the good news is that most dogs with recover with adequate antifungal medications.

19. Thanks for the link
It's very informative.

I think about one in three people in the Phoenix area have had or will have Valley Fever. Many of us will never know we have had it.

21. His dad is cute, but barks if a bug 5 doors down farts
Drives me nuts at times.

He spent 2 years running around a tree 8 hours a day barking over squirrel scents. He was a tad famous in the hood because no one believed it until they saw it :)

We moved, new tree, no squirrels....

22. Let me tell you about barking- I have an American eskimo.......
She is a bit "chatty", the first thing she does when she goes outside is start barking to see if any of the other dogs in the area want to "chat" with her.

24. In his search for cool, perhaps he can dig a wine cellar for you?
Terrier - daschund usually = smartest dog in the county, but a mix that is born to dig.

My old terrier/daschund had X-ray vision. He always knew when the young potatoes were just right (for him anyway) and would dig them up to share with his dog friends. He thought it was damned nice of me to grow dog treats.

He is a cute pup, Straight Story. Bet he loves the girl attention when your daughter's friend is over to play too.
