1. $43,219.44! You can look it up.
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 02:32 PM by GOPisEvil
No, actually you can look it up. My rate of salary and benefits package is public information. :P

Well, not mine personally, but all the numbers are public record. If you know enough about me you can figure it out.

actually you sound like me... Poor over worked under paid civil servant....

I shoulda been a forest ranger.

Damn, cant do that either with the widespread destruction ordered from the Chimp.

Ah hell, I am going to Harvard, get in Skull and Bones, be an average student, skip military service, ride the family coattails and become President.

I am going to bed now..

9. Eh, I can't complain...I'm not driven like a slave...
I'm treated fairly well here at the office, although I'm not fond of my actual duties.

My college offered forestry as a major - maybe I should have studied that instead of Poli. Sci.

11. You got that right.
I started off as a food stamp case worker 12 years ago. Seeing the retirees trying to scrape by on their SS was painful. Most of them qualified for a very small amount of benefits, but were always really thankful for anything they received. I really went out of my way for those folks.

Thankfully my dad has military and federal retirement to augment his and mom's SS.

18. I get a whole whopping $40 a month...
in longevity pay. No BRP though. Haven't been here long enough.

What kills me isn't the taxes and social security and whatnot...it's the $200+ dollars that comes out every month to pay off my student loans. x(

3. Less than a part-time bartender at the Hyatt Waikiki
on an hourly basis, that is; job listings at the Hyatt were posted in the office, for the benefit of our consumers, and... OUCH! "What'll you have, mister?"

Bear in mind I coordinate a statewide program, and possess a cum laude degree from the same place where Bush* got straight C's.

22. feels strange
Edited on Thu Jan-22-04 03:12 PM by 56kid
but when I got my last check for 2003, I realized I'd made over $46,000. (of course, I am in NYC where life is not cheap)
I've never made that kind of money in my life & I'm 47. As recently as 2 years ago I was making less than $10 an hour and in '96 I made less than $10,000 and was eating beans and rice and one meal a day.
So since Bush has been pResident, my personal economic situation has improved immensely. But there's no way I will vote for him. Even if Lieberman gets the nomination!
I know what it's like to struggle & there are things in America that are more important than the fact I'm making money.
I wish more people thought like I did.

I can't wait to work again. I hate this. I don't care if I end up married to a damned millionaire someday, I will never let myself get stuck like this again.
(Another reason to hope I don't get wait-listed to start my nursing clinicals next year.)

33. Absolute Jack
Nada. Zero. Zip. Zilch. I made nothing last year. Did not contribute to the economy in any way whatsoever. Well, I made a couple of house payments for one plumber. x(

My investments made a little money, that's about it. At least I still have those. I'm not in debt.

Next stop: temp agencies. *sigh* I can't wait to go back to work. I feel like such a bum.
