Health Care Horror Stories

In light of Michael Moore's movie, Sicko...I'm curious to see just how many health-care horror stories are out there. I'll refrain from sharing my own, so as not to "poison the well" but I will say this.

I have been unemployed for nearly 2 years now, as a result of the great economy of Bush. As a result, I suffer from acute depression. As a result of this, I am on disability, currently.

And, for the first time in my life, I am getting good, adequate health-care...thru Pennsylvania's Medicaid program!! For the first time in my life, I am getting treatment for my depression, hypertension, hypothyroidism, and hyperlipidemia. If not for this wonderful economy, I'd still be getting routine denials for treatment for these conditions.

In fact, with hypertension and hyperlipidemia, it is likely I'd be refused health insurance at all!! BUT...if these conditions are SUCH a risk...then why did the insurance companies I was with in the past never approve treatment for these conditions, claiming that they were not life or health threatening?

They can't have it both ways! Either it is, or is not, health and life threatening. Seems that they want to take whatever position is most advantageous to their bottom line...my health needs and concerns be damned!

So let's hear sopme of y'all health care horror stories! If we can get enough of them posted here, perhaps we could send the whole thread to Michael Moore...and every spineless news agency in the country!

Time for us to speak out...time for us to be pissed off...time for us to demand better! And this is the start. I'm throwing down the gauntlet. Who wants to join me?
